My Story

 My name is Diane but my friends call me Di and I have a passion for baking, designing and decorating cakes, cupcakes and cookies.  I’ve been told that when I’m handing a cake over it’s like I’m handing over a baby, but that’s how it feels – I’ve had the ingredients in front of me a few days earlier and now you have your celebration cake.

Ever since my own wedding day and the beautiful sugar flowers I had on my cake, I’ve always wanted to be able to make them and now I can.  I love creating lilies, daisies and roses to name just a few.

I established Di’s cakes back in 2013 and over the years I’ve created so many different cakes.  I can honestly say that no two cakes will ever be the same.

I progressed onto wedding cakes once I was confident to take them on.  I now love the whole process of seeing my bride and groom on their consultation, where they come with their ideas, pictures and colours.  They also enjoy samples whilst we chat about their ideas.  I usually have another meeting nearer the wedding day to see if they’ve had any more ideas or if there is something they would like to change.  I then look forward to receiving their photos and comments on how they enjoyed their day and the special part the cake plays as it’s the first thing the bridge and groom do as husband and wife.

I enjoy dealing with each client from the initial contact to working out each individual detail needed for the cake.  To me each detail is so important, so if there is something unique to the recipient then I have to try and incorporate it into the cake.  It is those details that mean the most when they see the cake for the first time.

I hold a Level 5 Food Hygiene Certificate.
